Causes and Symptoms

Headaches and migraines both cause pain in the head and can also cause nausea and vomiting. They may be common, but headaches and migraines are abnormal. A chiropractor may be helpful when headaches or migraines are chronic and affect your daily life.

If your headache or migraine were caused by a physical trauma, chiropractic care may be helpful.

Chiropractors will locate areas in your spine that are not moving correctly and therefore may not be supporting your head. Nerves, muscles and blood supply to the head may be affected by this issue and be causing this prolonged pain. A chiropractor may

  • Perform spinal manipulation or chiropractic adjustments to improve spinal function and alleviate the stress in the vertebrae.
  • Give nutritional advice, recommending a change in diet.
  • Give advice on better posture, ergonomics (work postures), exercises and relaxation techniques. Recurring joint irritation and tension in the muscles of the neck and upper back will be helped by the advice.
